I am Lovesick
The Song of Solomon is a love story about Solomon and his wife. It describes their love for each other and some of their experiences. In one instance Solomon leaves before his wife can open the door, so she goes to search for him. She tells the ladies she meets that if they see him to tell him she is lovesick. (Song of Solomon 5:8) Have you ever been physically weak because you love someone so much and you long for them? That is how God designed us.
I hope as we read the Song of Solomon that we can relate to this strong love for another person. I especially pray that all of the married couples have this type of love for each other. No matter how long we have been married, we should be lovesick when we can't be with our beloved for a period of time or just when we have a strong desire to be with them. God never intended for a married couple to have anything less.
Also, the beloved, Solomon, is a type of our Beloved, Jesus. Have you ever been lovesick for Jesus? I mean it. Do you long to be with Him and spend time in close fellowship with Him, so much that when something interferes, you are lovesick? I believe this is a result of loving Him with all of our heart, soul, and mind. (Matthew 22:37) It is the "personal relationship" we all should have with Jesus. He is our Beloved.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Song of Solomon 6-8.
