Exaltation Comes from the Lord

Many people are concerned about having a position of power and authority over other people. I am sure they think it makes them important. However, the ultimate exaltation comes from the Lord, not from anywhere else.(Psalm 75:6,7) It would do us all well to remember this truth.

God is the Judge. He does not judge our personality or even our gifts, when He decides to exalt someone. He judges the heart. He looks for humility. When He finds a humble person, God exalts that person. However, when He sees a proud person, He brings that person down.(Matthew 23:12)

We must ask ourselves a difficult question, "Why do we want to be exalted?" If we have selfish reasons for desiring exaltation, then, this comes from pride. God can't reward pride, and He is a Perfect Judge. However, if we do not desire to be exalted personally, but we want to exalt the Lord, this comes from a humble heart that realizes our weakness. Our Judge sees that humility, and He decides to exalt us to use us for His glory. Then, we give Him all the credit for anything that is done.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 78-80.
