I Was At Ease
Job may have given us an insight into why God allowed Satan to attack him, when he said, "I was at ease..."(Job 16:12) Job was comfortable in his life, and God knew that is not the best way for us to be, so He shattered Job's comfort to shake Him back to passionate searching for the Lord and His will. I believe the Lord does that to all believers, if we ever get to be "at ease" in our walk with Him.
None of us ever accomplished anything worthwhile when we were comfortable with where we were in life. We must continue to strive for more in life, more holiness and more service for the Lord. We must long for more of the Lord Jesus and hunger and thirst for righteousness. If God were to let us be at ease, we would begin to drift from Him, and we would be more likely to fall into sins.
I pray that all of us will guard against being at ease and comfortable with our lives, so God does not have to shake us and use us for a target to awaken us out of our spiritual slumber.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 19-21.
