Your Adversary

Yes, we do have an adversary, the devil, and he is constantly walking around seeking whom he may devour.(I Peter 5:8) We all need to make sure we are not one of those whom he may devour, don't you think? Let's consider who is at risk of being devoured.

Those who do not have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ are easy prey for Satan. They have no spiritual defenses for a spiritual enemy, and they have no spiritual weapons to use against him. It is so sad to think that he can toy with them like a cat plays with a mouse until he devours it, but that is the case. If you do not know Christ today, please run to Him to be saved by grace through faith before it is eternally too late.

Christians who are unaware of the devil are at risk. That is why this verse says to "be sober, be vigilant." We can get blind-sided by the devil, and we won't know what hit us, if we are not watching for his schemes and living by faith to defeat them.(Ephesians 6:11-20) We can fall for his lies, and deception without the discernment of the Spirit guiding us daily.

Finally, any Christian who is living in the flesh, instead of living in the Spirit is easy prey for Satan. Our fleshly weapons can't touch him. We can't decide to stop listening to him or stop doing what he tempts us to do, unless we surrender to the Lord and allow the Spirit to have His way in us. Then, we can resist Satan, and he must flee from us.

Don't be a victim; be a victor. If we live in God's power, we can overcome him every time.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Peter 1-3.
