No Greater Joy
Christmas should be a time of great joy, as we remember the incarnation of God in the Person of Jesus Christ, our Lord. I pray that each of you experience the joy and wonder of Christmas today and all year long. However, there are other sources of joy, too. In fact, John gave a personal testimony with which I can relate well. He confessed that he had no greater joy than to see his children "walk in the truth."(III John 4) Amen to that!
Gifts are wonderful, but as you sit around the tree with loved ones, look around at the people, maybe your children. What do you see? If you see believers who are living out God's truth in their lives, that is a source of real joy for us as parents. It is greater than any gift we could receive.
Of course, John used this analogy as a pastor, so he was referring to "spiritual children." The same is true. It is such a joy to see those whom we have led to the Lord walking in the truth. It is such a joy to see the church walking in truth. I can definitely relate to this joy, and I hope you can.
There is no greater life than to know Christ and walk in His truth. There is no greater joy than to see those we love walk in His truth. Merry Christmas to all of you, and may you all be filled with great joy this Christmas!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Revelation 2-4.
