Whatever It Takes
Are you willing to do whatever it takes to do God's will, even if it means breaking a law or dying? Esther was willing to do just that.(Esther 4:16) I believe it is the essence of following Christ. Christ died for us. He did whatever it took to pay for our sins, and He endured great ridicule and pain in the process. We must be willing to do whatever it takes to do His will in this world.
Most of the time, we are to follow the laws of the government, because God has ordained the rulers and authorities to keep order in society. However, when the law tells us we must do something against God's law or that we can't do something that God commands, we must do God's will instead of keeping the human law. That is why Christians all around the world are imprisoned for worshiping the Lord together and for witnessing for Him.
Just like Esther was in danger of receiving the death penalty for approaching the king of Persia, we must be willing to risk dying, if that is what it takes to carry out God's will. After all, God is there for us. If we know Him, we will never die. We will just pass from this life to life in heaven with Him. Death is not our enemy. Satan and sin are our enemies, and we must not give in to them because we fear death.
God could accomplish much in this world, if all of us had the courage of Esther to fast and seek God's favor, and then to do God's will, no matter what happens. If we perish, we perish, but we are instantly in the presence of the One who died for us. To live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Esther 6-8.
