Hardened Against God
It seems that today there are more and more people who consciously harden themselves against God. They have decided they do not believe the Bible is God's Word, and they doubt that God exists, so they make every effort to avoid anything that would cause them to consider the Lord. Job had seen that type of people even in his day.(Job 9:4) The problem with this approach to life is that those people will never really prosper. Oh, they might be rich in money and possessions, but their lives are empty.
Job knew that God was wise and powerful. No one can fight against God and win. It is impossible to ignore God, too. That is why people have to harden themselves against God. He keeps speaking to them in their hearts. He keeps showing Himself to them in different ways all of the time. Therefore, instead of giving in to listen to God and receive His revelation of Himself to them, they keep making up reasons why they will not even think about God or consider Him as Lord of all. It is a full time job to harden yourself against God.
I would ask all of you who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ in a personal way that you at least stop hardening yourself against Him and examine His Word. Let the truth of God come to your heart and mind. Then, take time to consider what you learn and what He says to you. I know that you will be amazed at what you realize when you are open to the Lord, instead of hardening yourself.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 13-15.
