Mount Moriah
Please, don't ever doubt that God is working out His plan for the history of this world. Let me show you one small part of this plan. Solomon built the Temple on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, the city God chose to be His dwelling place in the Old Testament times.(II Chronicles 3:1) How special do you think Mount Moriah is? Let's consider a few things.
In Genesis 22 Abraham was commanded by God to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, on Mount Moriah. That was about 1,000 years before Solomon built the Temple. It was on that mountain that Abraham found out that "God will provide." He did not kill his son, but God gave him a ram to sacrifice when He saw that he would not withhold his son from Him.
Then, in II Samuel 24 we read about David buying the threshing floor of Ornan in Jerusalem to offer the sacrifice that would stop the plague of death sweeping the land. It was there David saw the mercy of God poured out when God accepted his sacrifice.
Finally, Solomon built the Temple on this same spot. The Jews worshiped there for almost 1,000 years before Christ came. Then, Jesus came and taught in that Temple on Mount Moriah. However, that is not the end of the story.
After the Temple was destroyed in 70 A D and Israel ceased to be a country, it seemed that the Jews would never come back to Jerusalem, and there would never be another Temple. That was not true. In 1948 the Jewish nation of Israel was formed, and the Jews began to gather there from around the world. However, there is one more part of God's plan. One day the Temple will be rebuilt on Mount Moriah. Shortly after that, Jesus will return to earth, walk into that Temple and reign over the earth for 1,000 years.
All of these things happen in one spot on the earth because of the plan of God. He chose Mount Moriah, and He will carry out His plan. We all need to make sure we are ready for Christ to come again by trusting Him as our Lord and Savior now.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 6-8.
