A Costly Sacrifice Accepted

David made a very prideful decision to take a census of the fighting men in Israel. Joab tried to stop him, but he would not listen. After the census God's anger came against David, and He sent a plague on the land in which 70,000 men died. Then, David bought the threshing floor of Ornan to offer a sacrifice, so that they plague would stop. He paid full price for the property, because he would not offer a sacrifice that cost him nothing.(I Chronicles 21:24) Then, God accepted the sacrifice, and the plague of death ended. On this Easter Sunday we can see a lot of parallels between this and the sacrifice of Jesus.

Death came upon the human race because of a prideful decision to disobey God. Then, Jesus came as the God/Man to pay a most costly sacrifice to bring an end to death for those who would trust Him. He paid the full price, His blood and His life. God accepted His costly sacrifice, and the resurrection was the proof of that acceptance. Now, Satan, sin, and death have been defeated by the Lord Jesus Christ's costly sacrifice for us. He paid it all, so we could have eternal life by trusting Him as Lord.

I pray that we all will spend this Lord's day praising Jesus, and thanking God for accepting His sacrifice for us by raising Him from the dead. The resurrection is our proof of eternal life. Jesus is alive, and we, too, can live forever with Him as our Lord and Savior!

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Chronicles 23-25.
