Touching God's Soul

There is something that moves the soul of God, even when He is in the process of sending punishment upon someone or some group of people. The Israelites experienced this as they struggled against their enemy, the Ammonites.(Judges 10:15,16) We can experience it today, if we will just do one thing.

If we will realize our sin, confess it and repent of it, we will be able to touch the soul of God to move Him to have compassion on us. However, this must be sincere confession and real repentance. Confession of sin means that see our sins and hate them like God does, so that we say what He would say about our sin. Israel did this by telling God they had sinned, and they knew they deserved whatever He did to them. Then, repentance is actual turning away from the sins and beginning to do the right thing. It is not just being sorry. Israel put away the pagan gods and started serving God sincerely. When God saw that, He could no longer endure their misery, so He delivered them from their enemies.

Are you experiencing the anger of God against your sin? Confess and repent now. Watch to see the heart of God when He is touched by your sincerity, and His compassion is poured out on you. He is always faithful, if we will do this.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 12-14.
