Encouraging Seekers
We run into people all of the time who are open to the Lord and some who are actively seeking the Lord. Ruth was a seeker. She had left her gods to seek the Lord God of Israel. When Boaz encountered her, he did things to encourage her to continue on the road to seeking God, until she came to know Him.(Ruth 2:11,12) We should do the same thing to those we meet.
When we meet a seeker, we can compliment them on their openness to the things of the Lord and for the things they are doing in their lives that are positive. We can pray for God to bless them and to reveal Himself to them more and more. We can build a relationship with them by spending time with them and talking about the things of the Lord. This will help the person listen to the Lord and put their trust in Him.
We should be careful not to send the wrong signals to them and to reject them, because of the ways they are different from us or the things they have experienced in their lives. Some seekers look very differently from us because of tattoos and piercings or the clothes they wear. Some speak a different language of at least, use words we would not use. We must not be afraid of these things. We must look at their soul and see them as a person created in God's image who needs to know the Lord in a personal way. Then, we can show the love of Christ and assist them in their seeking.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ruth 3-4 and I Samuel 1-2.
