The Source of Many Sorrows
Just think for a moment about what causes many of the sorrows of your life. I know many are caused by problems with relationships. However, what leads to relationship problems a lot of time. It is money and how we look at money.(I Timothy 6:10) If we love money, it causes all kinds of trouble for us and for those around us. Money becomes more important than people or even the Lord.
This is the opposite of what the world tells us on TV, radio, and in all of the media. They say if we desire money and get plenty of it, we will be happy. In the process they lead us to have a love of money that is very unhealthy. Since we think it brings happiness, we do whatever it takes to get more of it. We put it first. We change our lifestyle, so that money is what makes our decisions. Money takes first place in our decisions. This definitely does not bring happiness.
The way to happiness and good relationships with God and others is to keep the right view of money. It is only a tool that can be used for good or bad. We must know that God gave it to us, so we must use it as He leads us. He will lead us to put Him first, people next, and money will come way down our list of priorities. Then, we are not drawn to do things from a love of money or material things. Our love is for the Lord and other people, as God designed it to be.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Timothy 2-4.
