Completely and Forever Saved
Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ is complete, and it is forever.(Hebrews 7:25) The NKJV of Hebrews 7:25 says that He is able to "save to the uttermost" those who come to God through Him. We can't be partially saved or temporarily saved. That is not salvation at all. When Jesus saves us, He does it right!
Jesus not only forgives our sins, but He is praying for each of us every day. This enables Him to meet all of our needs in His way forever. Think about it. He does the saving. We can't forgive our own sins, no matter what we do. Then, He watches over us and intercedes to the Father for us. His relationship with us is eternal. It is not simply to forgive our sins and give us a ticket to heaven.
What do you think Jesus is praying for you right now? What does He see in your life that needs some divine intervention? Are you going to listen to Him and cooperate with Him? Just because He is praying for us does not mean everything will be smooth and easy. He prayed for Peter because Satan wanted to sift him like wheat. Peter stayed faithful in the long run, but he did deny Christ 3 times, which caused him a lot of heartache. The prayers of Jesus don't control us so that we don't sin. They give us the strength and guidance to be able to do His will, if we follow Him. If we fail to follow He chastens us, until we figure it out and listen to Him. Think about it like a father praying for his children. He warns, provides, and teaches, but he can't live for his child. Those who belong to the Lord will hear His voice and obey eventually. That is part of being completely saved forever.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Hebrews 9-11.
