Casting All Your Care Upon Him
I do not think we really understand how the Lord wants to reduce our stress. In fact, the only stress He wants us to have is good stress. Yes, there is good stress, because in some cases if we did not have stress, we would not accomplish His will by meeting a deadline of having a test or trial. However, even in those cases, He has told us to cast all of our cares upon Him, because He cares for us.(I Peter 5:6,7) How can we accomplish this?
The first key is to humble ourselves. If we are proud, we will think we can do it ourselves, and we will try to do it in our own power and knowledge. We must confess that pride, and ask God to remove it, so that we accept our humble place before our All-Mighty God. Then, we simply take everything to Him in prayer. We must not only talk to Him, giving Him our cares, but as we ask for direction and provision, we must stop to listen to Him. Then, He takes the stress, because life is simply depending on our Loving Father, who always takes care of us better than we can care for ourselves.
This is all possible. The battle is to stop trying to do things ourselves and to start trusting Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Peter 1-3.
