The Witness of the Word of God
The Bible is all of the witness it takes to show our need to trust the Lord fully. In fact, Jesus said that it is more powerful than a person rising from the dead and coming back to witness to his relatives.(Luke 16:31) That is pretty amazing, if you think about it, isn't it?
Most people say they want to be convinced that God is alive and that Jesus is real. Then, they would believe if they just had proof. Well, I think it would be solid proof if someone returned from the dead, don't you? Jesus said that would not convince anyone, if they did not listen to the witness of the Word of God. The reason is that proof is not the key. It is repentance from sins and trust in the Lord. He has convicted everyone of sins, and He has revealed Himself to everyone. They Bible shows the truth, so surrender is the key. If a person will not surrender from doing things their own way, and turn to the Lord's way, it doesn't matter what proof they have. It is a heart problem, not a mind problem.
Jesus proved this Himself. He rose from the dead. He appeared to His disciples and to over 500 people. It is an historical fact. However, people do not trust in Him, even though He returned from the dead to show them He is Lord. They do not believe because they do not want to surrender to Him. Their hearts are hard, and they will not submit to Him in faith. The witness of the Word of God is all they need to show the way. The rest is up to each individual person.
