Getting Our Attention
Could it be that the present economic recession is not just caused by market forces, but it is God's way of getting our attention and punishing us for our persistent unfaithfulness? I believe that we must prayerfully consider this option, because we are told that God works in this way.(Ezekiel 14:13) When God speaks, we need to listen.
What is one sure fire way to get our attention? If we have a lack of food, it causes almost immediate concern. We are tied to our physical well-being on a daily basis. If we are hungry, it effects all we do. We can't get it off of our minds. It is a constant reminder that something is wrong.
I believe that God is using this economic recession to show us our persistent unfaithfulness. Just like in Ezekiel's day we have leaders who are leading us astray. We have false prophets who are telling us the wrong things. The people are caught up in idol worship. God is tired of having to tell us over and over again. Now, He is trying to get our attention by a famine for bread or food. If believers do not turn back to Him, I believe, it will get worse and worse. I pray we will listen and obey.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 15-18.
