Accusing God
People are pretty bold and brazen. They accuse God of doing all kinds of things wrong. This comes from the mouths of unbelievers (isn't that strange?) and believers. One accusation is that God is not fair.(Ezekiel 18:25) I find this amazing. Evidently, they are not thinking, just talking.
God is the one who made the moral laws of the universe. If He does not exist, how can anything be fair? There is no standard to judge fairness, except the standards of men, and they are very fallible, to say the least. Therefore, if God made the rules, why would He not abide by His rules? I guess they are saying that God is being a hypocrite, because He is not following His own rules.
The real truth is that they can't see all that God does. They are simply accusing God of doing the wrong things based on very limited knowledge of what He has done and what He will do in the future. We can't really say that anything is wrong or unfair, unless we have complete understanding of all of the motives and actions. I would not know any human being brazen enough to claim having All-Knowledge, but there are many who would accuse God still. This is putting themselves in a bad place. One day, they will have to answer to the Only Perfectly Fair Judge of the universe for their accusations.
I believe we need to accept that sin has so corrupted this world that bad things do happen to good people and good things happen to bad people. However, God will make sure that all of it is fair in the end, because He will bless those who trust Him with eternity in heaven, and He will allow those who don't want to be around Him to go to Hell for eternity.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 19-21.
