Work is Good
Many people need a change of perspective on work. The tendency in America today is to see work as bad and leisure as good. People would rather talk about things than do things. We would rather sit on the couch than get up and do something, because we do not value labor. We need to hear Proverbs 14:23.
In all labor there is profit. Any time we do a job or some work, there is some benefit to us or for someone else. Even if we just think and get exercise, we have profited from what we have done. However, when we enjoy idleness and idle talk, it leads to poverty. I have noticed over the years that people who do well work hard, and those who are struggling do a lot of talking, but there is a shortage of work. We need to turn that around and learn from this verse.
Let's take account of our day today. Let's see how much time we spend working and how much time we spend in idle talk. Then, consider the profit of what you do today and see if the Lord is not right.
