Making God Disgusted

There are definitely things we do that make God disgusted. The Bible calls them "abominations" or "abominable acts." I took time to look it up this morning, so that I was giving the full meaning. An abomination is something that is vile, disgusting, and hateful to God. It turns His stomach, so to speak. I don't ever want to do that to God, do you? Well, Solomon told us two of the things that make God disgusted in Proverbs 17:15. I believe we should be careful never to do these two things or anything else that is disgusting to God.

When we justify the wicked or sinful people in their behavior that displeases God, it is disgusting to God. We might feel like we are being loving, but we are not. We are making God sick, and we are leading others astray.

When we condemn the just or righteous people, we are also making God sick. We may feel like we are right, but if God calls something righteous that is the standard whether we agree with Him or not. We must not condemn people for doing what God says to do.

As you hear the news and read things today, think about how often people do these two things. Think about God's disgust at it all.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 18-20.
