Disgusting Prayers

Well, we finished reading Proverbs this morning. What did you think? Are you ready to follow the wisdom of God Solomon recorded for us? Does it make you want to keep God's laws even more? If it doesn't, maybe Proverbs 28:9 will convince you. The prayers we pray are disgusting to God, if we are turning our ears away from hearing and obeying His law. That is pretty serious.

I believe that many people think they can pick and choose what they want to believe and what parts of God's Word they want to obey. Does that really make sense, a human being knowing more than God? If you are not going to believe all of God's Word, how does it make sense to believe part of it? See what I mean. Think of how that mindset makes God feel. We want His blessings, and we pray for what we want, but we don't believe His Word and do what He has commanded us to do. It is disgusting to Him. It is an abomination for us to pray when we are not choosing to obey His law.

I know that is strong, but that is God's Word. Oh yeah, you can't just reinterpret it to fit your whims either. The Law is plain as is the rest of God's Word. His intentions for it are clear if we read and seek to understand it by reading all of God's Word. It is simple enough. Will we obey or not? Will our prayers disgust God or not?

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ecclesiastes 1-3.
