Prayer for Revival

Our constant prayer should be that God would grant His people a measure of revival. That was Ezra's prayer when he found out the situation of God's people who had returned from the exile in Babylon.(Ezra 9:8) In reality our situation in America today is similar to those people, so we can learn from Ezra's prayer.

The grace of our Lord has been shown to us, as believers, to leave us a remnant. Today, there are only a few Christians in the USA, but there are a few, a remnant. We should not bemoan the fact that 75-85% of the people are not believers, we should focus on the 25% or so who are believers. Just as God have given Israel the ability to return to their land and rebuild the temple in Jerusalem, we have the grace of God to help us regain our power and presence as His people.

We need to have our eyes enlightened to see His truth. We need His reviving power to bring us back to fervent spiritual life. Revival means to "live again." A person has to be alive to be revived. Only believers can be revived. Of course, we want to see others come to life in Christ for the first time, but we must see the church revived, if we are going to see many people come to the Lord. We must repent of our sins like the believers in Ezra's day, so that God can continue to bless us, and we can enjoy His favor.

Would you join me in praying for revival for the church in America? Our decline has been so great and our sins are so grievous. However, if we will humble ourselves and pray, God is faithful to revive us and to set us on His path in His power.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Nehemiah 2-4.
