God's Vindication
If you have ever had someone speak very unkindly about you, even cursing at you, you know how much it hurts. The flesh wants to lash out and hurt the other person like they are hurting you. That is not God's way to handle this type of situation. David knew that.(II Samuel 16:12) We need to learn from David that it is God's vindication we need, not our own defense.
Yes, when someone brings false accusations against us, we can refute them. However, we must not make it a personal attack on them, and we have to know that someone who hears their charges against us may believe them and not us. When that happens, we need to depend on the Lord to vindicate us, to show others that what is being said is not true. God's vindication is always better than anything we can do.
The only way we can respond correctly to severe criticism and cursing is by the power of being filled with the Spirit. He gives us patience. Then, we trust God to bless us and to bring the truth out for all to see. I pray that we will all learn this important life lesson.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Samuel 19-22.
