God Tests His Children
Tests are not bad. They show us a lot about ourselves. God's tests are very good. He always means for us to pass His tests with an A. His tests are for us to see, if we will decide to trust Him and keep His commandments.(Judges 3:4) He knows how we will do, even before He sends the test. That truth shows us that we have a choice, and we can have faith to follow Him. We must pass the test.
God uses all types of people, situations, and material things to test our faith. Each time He allows His children to be tested He knows we can pass the test. He never gives us a test that is too hard for us.(I Corinthians 10:13) In fact, if we trust Him, He gives us the wisdom and strength to pass His test. Then, when we pass, we are stronger for the next test, so that our faith grows and grows.
However, in Judges Israel failed God's tests over and over, because they failed to trust in Him. When we fail, we have to keep taking the same test over and over, because we can't rise to the next level without passing that test. It is much like being successful in school. If we don't pass the tests of first grade, we can't go to second grade and be successful. Sometimes, we have to be held back to repeat a grade.
I pray that we will not see tests as bad, but good. I pray that we will pass our tests, because we will decide to simply trust God and keep His commands. Then, we can all become strong in the faith and help others pass their tests, too.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 6-9.
