Excuses

How many times have we heard someone say something like this, "If my church had more people, we would be able to do something great for the Lord?" Nothing could be farther from the truth. It is just an excuse we have, caused by using this world's wisdom, not God's wisdom. The story of Gideon shows us all how lame this excuse really is.(Judges 7:2)

God can and does use small groups, even individuals, to do great things for Him. In fact, when there are only a few, He works more, because He knows the glory will go to Him and not the people. God is not arrogant like people, wanting all the glory. He knows that people need to know Him, so if He gets the glory, people are drawn to know Him. That is why we should always give Him all of the glory for all He does in us and through us.

Let's stop making excuses. Let's start doing God's will, without doubting His ability to win the victory in any situation. Don't let the wisdom of this world stop you from believing God and trusting Him to do great things. Listen to Him, like Gideon did, and then, go in His power to conquer any enemy, reach any goal. It is not up to the number of people or the power in us. It is all up to Him. Give God the glory and watch to see what happens.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 10-13.
