The Truth is a Person
There are many people who come to church, and they are always learning, but they never come to the knowledge of the truth.(II Timothy 3:7) The reason is simple. Truth is not facts. Truth is Jesus.(John 14:6) Until a person has a personal relationship with Jesus, he or she will never come to the knowledge of the truth. They will try and try to be good, but they can't be good without being saved by His grace and growing in Him.
That is why we must always remember that discipleship is obedience based not knowledge based. No matter what we learn, we will not be a disciple until we obey Him in faith. Faith is not just head knowledge. It is trusting Christ so much that it results in obedience to Him and to the Word of truth in the power of the Spirit of Truth. Therefore, we must share Jesus, the Truth, with people first and foremost. Then, we lead them to grow in Jesus, the Truth. Then, they will come to the knowledge of the truth.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Titus 3-4 and Philemon.
