Beware!

It is very easy to drift away from God, if we do not keep one important thing in mind. Once we drift into sin, we become hardened through the deceitfulness of sin, so that we can't hear from God and respond to Him as easily as when our hearts were soft.(Hebrews 3:12,13) Let's pick up on the really important thing in these verses.

All unbelief is evil. If you have any unbelief in your heart, you have an evil heart. Unbelief is failing to trust what God has said to us. Unbelief is not an intellectual problem with the Bible. Remember, the word for belief is the same basic word as faith. Therefore, and evil heart of unbelief could be called an evil heart of faithlessness. We see unbelief in our lives when we quit doing what God has told us to do. We all do what we believe in most of the time.

If you believe that praying is effective, you will pray. If you believe the Bible is God's Word, and it will guide you in the right way, you read it and obey it. If you believe God wants us to share His love and the gospel, you do it. We see an evil heart of unbelief spring up when we see another person stop doing the right things. It is then, that we need to exhort them, so that they do not drift farther and become hardened by the sin. Once they are hardened, it is very difficult to bring them back to the Lord. That is why we must be diligent to stay close to Him and have a soft heart, as well as, helping other believers to do the same.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Hebrews 4-6.
