Flee Sexual Immorality

The Bible makes it very clear that having sex in any way except between a man and a woman in the covenant of marriage is sin. God commands us to flee from sexual immorality.(I Corinthians 6:18) It is a sin that has more consequences than other sins, because it involves sinning against your own body.

Sexual immorality is accepted as normal today, but that does not make it right. There are many ways that we can try to justify sexual immorality and rationalize why we should be engaged in it. However, none of that reasoning changes God's will. Yes, we all have sexual needs, but God makes it clear that those needs are to be met in the marriage relationship only. When we have sex in marriage, it is a beautiful expression of love between two people whom God has made one, and it meets their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. When we have sex in other ways, it is devalued to simple physical gratification.

Anyone who is objective can look at the state of affairs in our world today and see that sexual immorality is causing huge damage to society and to individual lives. This is the result of rejecting God's design and going our own way. I pray that we will trust God's wisdom and allow His Spirit to empower us to live according to His way.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Corinthians 8-10.
