It's Not Automatic
I am always humbled when I read of what Jesus went through to pay for my sins and the sins of the whole world. It thrills me to read of His resurrection, and to know that He defeated sin, death, and Satan once and for all, proving Himself to be the Messiah sent from God when He rose from the dead for all to see. There is no doubt that Jesus did His part to pay for our sins, the question now is, "Will we do our part to share the Good News, so people can know Him?"(Mark 1:17) Salvation is not automatic.
Jesus called His disciples to follow Him, and He promised to make them to become fishers of men. He accomplished His task. After His death, His disciples spread the gospel over the inhabited world in one generation. That could only have happened in the power of the Spirit after the Day of Pentecost. However, since then Satan has been effective in slowing us down, so that believers no longer think fishing for men is a part of being a Christian. Therefore, multitudes have ended up in hell, because they never heard that Jesus died and rose again for them. We must return to Jesus' admonition. We must follow Him and allow Him to make us into fishers of men. We must encourage other believers to do the same. Remember, salvation is not automatic. If we know Christ, it is our responsibility to catch men and women, boys and girls for the kingdom.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Mark 2-5.
