Beyond Any Doubt
When God wants to prove His existence and power, He does it so that everyone has no doubt. One instance was the death of Goliath, a giant soldier, who was killed by a young shepherd.(I Samuel 17:47) The young shepherd, David, did not sneak up on him in the dark. He met him face to face. He did not get in a lucky shot with an arrow. He hit him in the head with a stone from his sling. He was not killed in secret, but in front of two huge armies. It was an experience that none of those watching would ever forget. It proved to all of them that God is alive, and He is All-powerful.
Think about your life. How has God shown Himself to you and your family? I am sure that He has done the same thing for you in different ways. God is so good. He doesn't leave us to wonder about Him. He reveals Himself to our hearts and to our senses, so that we know beyond any doubt He is real. The question is will we trust Him as Lord of our lives?
How many Philistines do you think trusted God as the One and Only Lord that day? My feeling is that it was only a few at best. People are ruled by peer pressure and pride, much more than by proof. However, each one of them had a chance to trust Him. What will you decide?
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Samuel 18-20.
