Searching For A Godly Wife
It seems that every week I hear about people who are searching for a wife or a husband. It is a very important part of life. People go about it in many different ways. For most people it seems that they find someone to whom they are attracted for some reason, and they date for a while to discern what they ought to do. It can be a rewarding procedure, or it can be very frustrating. It can end in success or terrible failure. I would suggest another way to find a spouse that is based on my experience.
It was on this day "several" years ago that I met my wife Chris. I was not searching for a wife. In fact, I had prayed very specifically about three weeks before I met her that God would show me the person I should date without me having to ask her. I was young, and I did not stop to think about how hard of a request I was making to God. In reality, nothing is hard for God. That is why I wasn't looking, but He answered my prayer perfectly. I was invited to her birthday party by a friend. Then, my friend's girlfriend asked her to go out with me. The rest is history.
Therefore, my advice is not to search for a wife or a husband. Pray for God to supply the right one at the right time. Then, stay faithful and sensitive to what He is doing. He is very capable of bringing the right person to you. I believe He delights in our trust, and He desires for us to have the mate He has selected for us. Therefore, what better way to find that person? I know it has been a great blessing for me.(Proverbs 31:10)
Tomorrow, I will read in Genesis and Exodus to prepare my messages for 2012. Then, I will begin reading through the Bible again on January 1, 2012.
