Seeking God
I am always shocked when I read the blunt tone of Proverbs 1:20-33. God is Love. His mercy endures forever. However, there comes a time, when He does not respond to the cries of those who have rejected His appeals to seek knowledge and to fear Him. It is at this point that we see the love of God and the holiness of God working together. He is always loving and merciful. He gives us His love, and He punishes us less than we deserve, which is His mercy. Then, when we reject Him, His holiness demands that He must punish sin, and He must not reward our rebellion. Therefore, we end up receiving the cold shoulder of God. We wanted to be on our own, so He lets us go and receive the consequences of our choices.
Some people might say that is not the character of God. Yes it is. He is perfectly holy, and He will not be mocked. Whatever we sow, we will reap. Are you reaping the consequences of going your own way? You may have to ride it out a while before the end of the storm comes. It is always time to call upon the Lord and to call regularly. Learn from His Word. Eventually, He will hear, if you really turn to Him with your whole heart.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 4-6.
