Hope In The Storm
God is the Lord over the storm, and He is the One who chooses to still the storm or not. Our hope comes from Him, knowing that He is in control. If there is any hope for the USA, it will come from turning to the Lord and crying out to Him.
What gets God's attention? How do we show Him that we are serious about turning to Him? Isaiah 1:16-17 is a good guide. If believers in America would do these things, and if we would help others see that God is looking for these things, it could save our country from the hardships. God could choose to deliver us.
God is looking for people who will repent of specific sins and become clean before Him.(I John 1:9) We must cease to do evil and learn to do good. There is a lot involved in doing good, but God is looking for justice. Justice is real "liberty for all." It is being compassionately fair. God hates those who oppress others. He hates the poor being oppressed by the rich, and He hates anyone who oppresses another person made in His image. God desires for us to care for the defenseless in our society, which involves the fatherless and widows, as well as others. This sounds like being like Jesus to me. When God sees Jesus in us, it brings a smile to His face, and it leads Him to have mercy on us. Therein lies our hope in the storm.
Today I read Song of Solomon 7-8 and Isaiah 1.
