God's Kind Of Love
It is so easy to forget the meaning of real, God-like love. The Bible tells us that "God is love." Therefore, the only "real" love is God's kind of love. Everything else is a cheap imitation.
I remember one time over 30 years ago that I became very upset. I was told that one of the teachers at our church explained love to his class in the wrong way. Basically, he told them that it was an "I will scratch your back, if you scratch my back" relationship. I was so sad to hear that this was taught, because nothing could be further from the truth. Love is not selfish. Love cares for other person, no matter how they act or what they do for us. This is obvious from seeing the life of Jesus on earth and from reading His Word.
One of the most important things we can accomplish in life is to have God's kind of love for others. This can only happen if we know Christ as Lord and Savior, so that He lives in us, and we are partakers of His nature. Then, we let His unselfish love flow through us to others. In the process we share the truth of the gospel with them, so that they can also experience God's kind of love, and continue to show it to others, as well. The whole world needs to experience the love of God. That is why Jesus came to die for all of us. He loves every single human being with an unselfish love that wants them to have an eternal, abundant life that comes from knowing Him.
Today, I read Isaiah 2-4.
