Walking with God
This morning the Lord impressed me to choose the verse about Enoch walking with God in Genesis 5:24 as my verse for the day. I used it as an illustration in my message this morning, as well. It is a fitting verse upon which to meditate as we start a new year.
Isn't it amazing that an individual person can walk with God? God is so awesome that He can give each one of the six billion people on the earth his undivided attention. Therefore, He is with each of us 24 hours a day. He is ready to walk with us, if we will decide to walk with Him. As we see from the first man and woman until now, God is able to walk with us and talk with us all through the day. His Spirit is there to direct us, empower us, and to lead us into all truth. He is a personal God and great friend to those who know Him.
One key to walking with God is that He does not go where we go. We have to follow His path. He is under no obligation to follow us into sin of any kind. Yes, He is only a prayer away, but we can depart from our walk with Him at any time we go on our own way. Therefore, a walk with God is a walk of submission. We are not leading. He is the pace setter and the leader of any walk.
I pray that all of us will know the joy of walking with God each day of 2011. When we wake in the morning, may we make sure we have confessed our sins, and we are clean and ready to go His way. Then, we are off to the greatest life possible.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 8-10.
