Please Let There Be No Strife
People are seeking peace, because there is so much strife in our lives. That is why Jesus calls on Christians to display our supernatural unity to the world.(John 17) Our unity will be the one sign to the people around us that we have something different about us. Then, they will see that it is a unity produced by the Spirit because we know Jesus.
However, I am sad to say that we, as believers, do not demonstrate that unity as we should. There is far too much strife between brothers and sister in Christ. I agree with Abram in Genesis 13:8 when he told his nephew, Lot,"Please let there be no strife between you and me and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren." We are all in the same family, so let's love each other.
I am convinced that if we can live in the Spirit and put aside the flesh, we can live without strife. Just look at Abram in this story. He gave Lot his choice of the land. He did not act selfishly. He wanted Lot to be happy and fulfilled. It was actually Lot who was selfish, and look what it led to for him and his family. The Spirit will lead us to love and to care for each other in every case. Then, we could have a life without strife.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 14-16.
