Power Outage

This afternoon when Chris was using the microwave to cook some food, the power went off to the microwave and several lights. It is one of those things that happens on weekends. I made some calls, and I even got up enough courage to change a breaker, after talking to an electrician friend. It did not solve the problem. We will be partially in the dark, until we can have someone smarter than me come to the rescue. In the meantime we will be fine, because we have fixed up some other lights, and we can do without the microwave for a while.

All of that made me think about something I have read in a couple of books lately. It is a serious power problem with Christians and with churches today. Are we able to live our lives and carry on our church ministries without the power of the Holy Spirit? If that is the case, we are not living like the Lord designed us to live as believers. We should be dependent on His power, because we attempt to do things that we could not do in our own power. We should not be able to "get by" without Him like we are getting by without our lights and microwave.

Take time to consider this important question. If the answer is yes, confess that to the Lord, and decide to get out on a limb with the Holy Spirit to empower you. Then, you can see the Lord really work in your life to bear fruit for Him.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Habakkuk 3 and Zephaniah 1-2.
