Pain and Suffering
I have met people who do not believe in God, because they say that there is so much needless and unjust suffering in the world. They reason that if God was really good and powerful like the Bible says that He would not allow all of this suffering. If He is allowing it, they say He is not really good, so they don't want to trust Him, because He allows it. This is a heart wrenching subject, because none of us like to see people suffering. However, it is no reason not to believe in God.
The truth is that if there is no God, there could be no needless or unjust suffering, because there would be no one to say what is needful or just. The only reason we have any understanding of justice and right or wrong, is that it comes from God who established it. Think about this. Evolution teaches the survival of the fittest. There is a lot of pain and suffering in this theory just because the strong can overcome the weak. The same people who won't believe in God, believe in evolution. It doesn't make sense, does it?
Also, the only way a person can say that a case of suffering is needless or unjust, is if he knows there is not a reason for it. How can he know that unless he is God. There are many instances where suffering leads to blessings later on. Only God knows how that works. He allows the suffering, so that He can bring good out of it.
Finally, only in Christianity is there the alleviation of all pain and suffering in a perfect place called Heaven. Jesus came to experience our pain and suffering as He died for us. Then, He rose again to show us the reality of eternal life and Heaven. If we trust Him, we can go to Heaven, and the moment we get there, all of the pain we ever knew will be forgotten in the wonderful bliss of Heaven. That is the only real solution for pain and suffering, and it comes from an all-wise, all-loving, just God. I pray that you will not hold back from trusting Jesus because of pain and suffering. Instead, trust Him and find the solution to all pain and suffering.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 2-5.
