Taking Every Thought Captive
As I talk to people it seems that many of them have trouble with their thought life. They have not learned the principles of II Corinthians 10:3-6. I believe planting sinful thoughts in our minds is a major strategy of Satan. If we do not get a handle on what to do, he will defeat us.
The Bible is clear in this passage. God has given us spiritual weapons for this war. We can't defeat Satan in our flesh with physical strength. We must use the spiritual weapons of prayer and God's Word applied in the power of the Holy Spirit. Then, we can overcome him every time.
When we use these weapons we can pull down the strongholds Satan has built in our lives, when we allowed him to have access through our sinful habits. Then, we can cast down his arguments which he brings against God. We can see the truth. Finally, we can take every thought captive. We do not have to let it stay in out minds. We can grab it and send it away. In fact, we can judge each thought as to whether or not it is a thought that honors Christ or not. Then, we can bring our thoughts into obedience to Him. All of this comes through our spiritual weapons, but we have to use them consistently every day.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 18-21.
