Filled with the Spirit and Led by the Spirit

This morning we made it through the genealogy at the end of Luke 3, and we started chapter 4. We had a good discussion of Jesus being filled with the Spirit and led by the Spirit. I think we all need to consider this important fact. Even Jesus needed the Holy Spirit to lead Him. Yes, Jesus was God, but He was human, too. That made it necessary for Him to follow the Holy Spirit's direction and to call on His power for His life and ministry. If Jesus needed the Spirit that much, we need Him even more.

Are you filled with the Spirit? Do you seek to be filled each day? To be filled is to allow the Spirit to control you. It is filling every part of us from the inside. Then, we can hear the Spirit speaking to us very well. Are you led by the Spirit? Do you do what He tells you to do? Romans 8 says that is true of those who know Christ. He does not leave us without His guidance. He sends the Spirit to live in us when we confess Him as Lord. Then, it is up to us to allow Him to fill us and lead us. That is the key to the Christian life. It was the key to Jesus' ministry, and it is the key to our obedience to the Lord.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 17-19 and Acts 10:1-23.
