A Great Start on the book of Luke
This morning we had 19 men there at 5 AM as we started our study of the book of Luke. Isn't that fantastic? These men are hungry to know God's Word and to apply it in their lives. The fellowship is very good, too.
Today, we mostly emphasized the facts we know about Luke himself. He was a Gentile man, perhaps a convert of Paul, and God inspired him to write about one fourth of the New Testament. What does that say about how much God wanted to reach the Gentiles as well as the Jewish people with the Good News of Jesus? I think it says a lot. He wrote a chronological account of Jesus' life that is very historically and scientifically accurate because of his training as a physician and of course, the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. He traveled with Paul during a great deal of his missionary trips, and he was very faithful to Paul. He used his skills as a physician to treat people for sicknesses and to witness to people about Jesus. He was a true co-worker with Paul.
I can't wait to get into the meat of the Word next week, and I am looking forward to seeing our group grow as we reach out to other men. I truly believe God is using this group of men to transform our church.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 16-17 and Matthew 5:27-48.
