Daily Prayer Times
Most of us have things that we do every day. We have a routine, or at least, we make sure we do certain things each day. For many people this includes eating, personal hygiene, going to work, some type of exercise, and relaxation. These things focus on the physical needs, but what do we do each day to focus on what is the most important part of life? What do we do each day for our spiritual well being?
Daniel had a practice that was well known to everyone around him. When his enemies wanted to get rid of him, they used it against him. They got the king to sign a law against it. (Daniel 6:10) When Daniel knew that the law had been signed, he went home, and in his upper room with windows opened toward Jerusalem, he knelt and prayer three times, as he had done for a long time. Daniel was not going to let anything stop him from having his prayer times every day.
I know a lot of us, as believers, pray before we have our meals. We may have a prayer before we go to sleep or when we wake up, too. However, how many of us actually have an extended time of talking with the Father about everything that is going on in our lives? The best way to do this is to have a set time and place. We need to make it a priority over eating, sleeping, or our work and relaxation. Nothing is more important than praying about everything in our lives. Yes, I know Bible study is very important, too, but it is not more important than regular prayer times.
I believe this should be the case for for unbelievers, too. Even if a person does not believe there is a God in heaven, shouldn't they do whatever it takes to make sure they are right? If the Bible is true, and Jesus is Lord, so that if we don't know Jesus, we are lost and headed for an eternity in hell, the consequences of unbelief are terrible beyond imagination. I believe the least any unbeliever should do is to spend time each day reaching out to God. I believe God will respond to them, if they will take that time to pray to Him.
