Shining Brightly

The end of the book of Daniel is filled with prophecies God gave him about the end of time. Some are very easy to understand while we won't know what the others are talking about until the time of the end actually comes. One thing is made very clear. There will come a time when the unrighteous shall be resurrected for judgment and life in the Lake of Fire, while the righteous will be resurrected for life in heaven with the Lord. The only way to be ready for this time is to know Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior.

When God showed this to Daniel, He gave him another insight into what will happen to some of the righteous people when they go to heaven. God will give some special blessings. (Daniel 12:3) "Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever." This gives us a picture of what we should be doing to be pleasing to the Lord now and to be rewarded when we get to glory.

Wisdom only comes from God. We can't become wise by going to school or getting degrees. We get wisdom by humbly going to God and seeking His wisdom over and over again for all of the things that happen to us in our lives. God has promised us that He will give His wisdom to all who ask Him for it, and He will give it abundantly. The problems is that many of us try to work things out and understand things on our own instead of seeking the Lord. We live according to our faulty knowledge, not the wisdom that comes from the Lord.

Also, God values every believer who unselfishly uses his or her time to turn others to righteousness. This is a way of saying that we take time to show Jesus to other people, and show them how to turn their lives over to Jesus to forgive their sins and give them new lives. Then, they can be righteous and turn others to righteousness, too. However, too often we are too busy with the things of this world, so we don't invest in others, so they can come to know Jesus. I pray we will be wise and turn many people to righteousness for the glory of God.
