O My Strength

There are all kinds of strength that we all need. There is physical strength, emotional strength, mental strength, and spiritual strength. There are probably others, too. They are all important for us to have to live joyful and productive lives. There are all kinds of books and podcasts claiming to have the secrets to having the strength we need. None of them will be completely helpful unless they center on the Lord and His strength for us.

David was inspired to write Psalm 22. It has many details about Jesus' crucifixion. It shows us His agony and how He was depending on the Father. I think it partly applies to David and to us, as believers, too. (Psalm 22:19) David implored the Lord not to be far from him. Then, he said, "O my Strength, hasten to help me." This is one of the verses I think applies to all believers.

The last 20 months have been a very difficult time in many ways. Chris went through 11 rounds of very strong chemotherapy, 25 rounds of radiation, and 3 more rounds of another chemotherapy before she had to stop. There were numerous doctors appointments and several hospital stays along the way. It was a great challenge for both of us, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. However, God was with us every step of the way.

People have asked how I was able to do, and pastor the church at the same time. Well, I couldn't do it, but God could. He is my Strength. As I continued to seek Him each day, praying, staying in the Word, working out physically, and continuing to read and grow in Him, He supplied all of the power I needed, and all of the power Chris needed. Now, it seems that everyone expects me to be crying all of the time, but I am not, not because I don't miss Chris, but because He is my Strength. I recommend Him to all of us for whatever strength we need every day.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 23-25.
