Delighting in God's Will and His Law
What do you really enjoy doing? I wonder what most of us would say if we were asked that question? I am sure the answers would be varied from watching sports to shopping. Others would say walking, running or playing certain games. Then, there are those who love to watch movies or other things on TV, not to speak of those who like video games or music. I wonder how many of us would respond that we really enjoy doing God's will?
That is just what David said as his personal testimony. (Psalm 40:8) In fact, he said that he delighted to do God's will, and God's law was within his heart. That is quite a statement from a king who could do whatever he wanted to do. Yes, I know David sinned, and he did not always do God's will. However, I believe he is speaking truth here by letting us know what really motivated him on a daily basis.
I believe if we really delight to do God's will, we will wake up in the morning and start doing it right off the bat. We will love to pray and to spend time seeking the Lord. We will begin the day by reading God's Word and asking Him to speak to us through it. We will ask God to show us His will for us for that day, and we will be eager to do it, because we love to please God and see Him work in us and in others. Our day will be filled with getting joy from doing God's will.
Also, there is something that goes along with this. That is, we will have His law in our hearts. We will not just read His Word but memorize God's law so we will not sin against Him and so we will know the will of God readily. When we love to do God's will, we will love to learn His law and keep His law. It will be planted in our hearts and bring us joy, too. I really believe this is what David did, and that is why God used Him as king and as the writer of so many of the Psalms.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 41-45.
