Whatever God Says

I am not an expert on very many things. There are a few things that I have learned from experience and from a lot of studying that I am fairly sure I could explain pretty well. However, when it comes to being very precise and covering all of the bases on something, I have to look up a real expert before I will say anything. There is one thing I know for sure. I never say the wrong thing when I stick with whatever God says.

That was the testimony of Micaiah and the other prophets in the Old Testament. (II Chronicles 18:13) When he was asked to tell king Ahab what was going to happen in the battle with the Syrians, he replied, "As the Lord lives, whatever my God says, that I will speak." That is not only a great principle for Old Testament prophets, it is just as important for us, as New Testament saints.

Every one of us, as Christians, have the Holy Spirit. He is in us to empower us and to guide us. Jesus communicates with His sheep as we listen to the Holy Spirit. (John 10:27) If we are a Christian, we will hear the Lord speaking to us. He knows our name, and we know His voice, so we hear Him and follow Him. Therefore, when we need to speak to someone about anything important, we need to say whatever God says about that subject. That is even how Jesus operated when He was here on this earth.

Of course, now we have the Bible, as well. The Bible is the "Word of God." God's Spirit inspired the men who wrote the Bible to write exactly what He wanted them to write while using their language, culture, and personality. We are always safe to quote what the Bible says, and tell the other person that is what God says about it. So, you can see how we, as Christians, should stick with whatever God says, and we will be safe from leading others the wrong way.
