Decisions, Decisions
Life is made up of all of the decisions we make every day. Each decision has a bearing on how our life will go. A good decision will bring good fruit, while a bad decision will bring bad results. It is very important for us to know how to make the right decisions on a consistent basis. That leads to good habits and a fulfilling life.
God inspired Paul to give us two principles that will lead us to make the right decisions for our lives. (I Corinthians 6:12) All things are permitted for us, but not all things are of benefit for us. All things are permitted for us, but we must not be mastered by anything. I believe it is vital for us to understand these principles and follow them.
Of course, we need to stay away from sinful practices. That goes without saying. However, there are many things that are not sinful that we are permitted to do. They may be very fun to do and bring us pleasure. Other things might fill up our time and keep us from being bored. The question is, "Would doing this thing bring a positive benefit to my life? Would it help make me more like Jesus?" If the answer is not a definite "yes," we need to say no and do something that will be of benefit.
Also, some things that are permitted for us to do can take over our lives. They can take time away from our time with the Lord or our service for Him. We can even become addicted to some things, so that we can't stop doing them. That leads us to be mastered by something instead of Jesus being our Lord and Master. We must not allow that to happen, or it will wreck our Christian walk with the Lord and bring many bad consequences.
