For Such a Time as This

The book of Esther is in the Bible to show us how God is always working to accomplish His ultimate will for us and for the world. We all need to come to the place where we realize that nothing that happens to us is an accident. Some things happen because of our personal sins, and we are suffering the consequences. Other things happen because of God's plan for us, so we have to be sensitive and obey what He is leading us to do.

Esther became the queen of Persia after the king's wife was deposed, and He divorced her. She went from being an obscure Jewish lady to royalty in a short time. Then, a plan was hatched to kill all of the Jews in the kingdom, and someone had to stop it. (Esther 4:14) Her uncle, Mordecai told her that if she kept silent at that time liberation and rescue would arise from another place, but her and her father's house would perish. Then, he encouraged her by saying, "Who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?"

We all need to be thankful for where we were born and for the family we were born into. Also, we should realize that the time we live in is a blessing for us to do what God has designed us to do. When you put those factors together with other things like our personality and gifts, each of us can see why God made us as we are and what He wants us to do.

Our part is the seize the day. We must live each day in the present, being aware of what God is doing around us and how we are suited to join Him in it. Then, we need to act, knowing that what we can do that day, might be why we were born and brought to where we are now. Of course, we do this by prayer and fasting like Esther did, because we can't do anything without God's power and direction.
