Sent By God
It seems that many people today do not have a real purpose or objective for their life. Yes, they want to be comfortable, and they want to enjoy the pleasures of life, but they do not have something they are trying to accomplish. They do not have goals that they want to achieve. This should not be true of us, as Christians.
When Jesus met with His disciples on the day of His resurrection, He gave them their purpose. (John 20:21) He said, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so I am sending you." What a profound mission we have for our lives, as disciples of Jesus. I wonder how we are doing?
Jesus came as the One to show us the Father. He told Thomas if anyone had seen Him, they had seen the Father. He came to teach the truth of God and to fulfill the law of the Old Testament. He came to show love to all people, and to be merciful in many ways. However, those were just the means to an end.
Jesus' mission given to Him by the Father was to do whatever it took to provide salvation for all the people of the world by dying and rising for our sins. He had accomplished that mission perfectly when He sent out His disciples to do the same thing. We can't die for people's sins, but we can tell them about Jesus and show them Jesus with the objective of them having their sins forgiven by believing in Jesus. That is what we all have been sent out to do.
