All Believers Sharing the Good News
I am afraid that people get the wrong idea about the church. This is true even for the church members themselves. They get the wrong idea that the responsibility of sharing the Good News of Jesus is given to the ordained pastors and not to them. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
We see this disproved in the early church. (Acts 8:1,4) Saul, the Pharisee, was witness of Stephen's death, and he completely agreed with it. Then, a great wave of persecution began that day, sweeping over the church in Jerusalem; and all the believers except the apostles were scattered through the regions of Judea and Samaria. All of the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they went.
So, we see here that the regular believers were the ones who took the Gospel to the people of Judea and Samaria, as Jesus said would happen in Acts 1:8. The apostles, the leaders, stayed in Jerusalem. This caused the gospel to spread very quickly and well, so that many people were saved and baptized, as they heard the Good News and trusted Jesus.
We need for the same thing to happen today. We need for all believers to share the Good News of Jesus wherever we go. Please, don't let the word "preached" throw you off. You don't have to preach a message to tell others about Jesus. You simply share your story of your salvation and the simple message of the gospel, and people will get saved by the power of the Holy Spirit.
