How Rich Are You?
Many people are fixated on becoming as rich as possible. They are constantly looking at their bank accounts and trying to figure out a strategy for investing, so their money will accumulate as fast as possible. They think that way they can be really rich and really happy. I am afraid they are on the wrong track.
God has a way for us to be truly rich. (II Corinthians 8:9) God's Word says, as believers, we know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though He was rich, for our sakes He became poor, so that by His poverty He could make us rich. Now that is being rich beyond anything this world offers.
Just think of how rich Jesus was in heaven. He was the Creator and Owner of everything in the universe. Yet, because of His generous grace and love for all people, He became poor. He came to earth, born as a baby, and lived a simple life. He never even owned a home. Then, as the perfect God/Man he died and rose again for our sins to be forgiven. Now, He is back in heaven, as rich as ever.
Once we trust Him as our Lord and Savior, He forgives our sins, gives us the Holy Spirit, and adopts us into the family of God. We are brothers and sisters of Christ. He has prepared a place in heaven for us, and while we are here, He gives us every spiritual blessing, so we are rich in the things of he Lord. Once we leave here, we will live in luxury with Him forever. Now, that is how rich you and I are, if we know Jesus.
